The combined organic layer was washed with brine (50 mL), dried over anhydrous Na2SO4 and concentrated in vacuo to give crude 8 -(3-chloro-5-methoxy-phenyl)- 1 ,4-dioxa- 8-azaspiro [4.5] decane (700 mg), which was used in the next step without further purification.
