Solids precipitated out from the solution during the addition. It was stirred at -5C for 0.5 h. The mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate (70 mL x 3). The combined organic layers were washed with saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate (20 mL), water (40 mL) and brine (50 mL) sequentially. The organic layer was dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure to give the title compound.
