General procedure: To a solution of 2a, b (2 mmol) in dry DMF (15 mL) was added K2CO3(0.276 g, 2 mmol) and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1 h. 2-(2-Chloroethoxyethanol), 1-chloro-2-methoxyethane or 3-chloropropane-1,2-diol (2 mmol)was added and stirring was continued for 8-10 h (TLC) at 70C.
