One equivalent of dichloride (1) and 2.2 equivalent of M-NH2 are refluxed in an appropriate amount of n-butanol at 150C for 10 hrs. The reaction mixture is allowed to cool to room temperature and the precipitate (4) that forms is filtered and washed sequentially with isopropyl alcohol, 4.0 N KOH, H2O, and hexane, and then dried.
