Verbicky, John W. Jr.; Williams, Louella published the artcile< Remarkably selective chlorination of phthalic anhydride and its monochlorinated derivatives>, SDS of cas: 118-45-6, the main research area is phthalic anhydride chlorination; chlorophthalic anhydride chlorination.
The vapor-phase chlorination of phthalic anhydride (I), 4-chlorophthalic anhydride (II), and 3-chlorophthalic acid (III) at 390° to 600° is highly selective. Chlorination of I at 390°-450° gave high yields of monochlorinated products accompanied by only small amounts of dichlorination with a high degree of regioselectivity favoring the formation of II. Chlorination of III by this method has provide the first direct synthesis of 3,5-dichlorophthalic anhydride from I via chlorination.
Journal of Organic Chemistry published new progress about Chlorination. 118-45-6 belongs to class chlorides-buliding-blocks, and the molecular formula is C8H3ClO3, SDS of cas: 118-45-6.
