Gas phase regioselective thermal cycloaddition reactions of chlorotrifluoroethylene with 1,3-butadiene, (E/Z)-1,3-pentadiene, or isoprene in a flow reactor at 440-480°C gave chlorotrifluorocyclohexenes which underwent elimination reactions in aqueous KOH in the presence of benzyltriethylammonium chloride to yield 1,2-difluorobenzene, 2,3-difluorotoluene, and 3,4-difluorotoluene.
