Using benzyltributylammonium chloride as phase transfer catalyst and 50% NaOH aqueous solution as acid binding agent, carbazole reacted with alkyl halides in mole ratio 1:1.2 at reflux in benzene for 3∼4 h to produce alkylcarbazoles. Then the resulting alkylcarbazoles reacted with fourfold equivalent freshly distilled DMF and POCl3 in chlorobenzene to obtain the title compounds Structures of the products were confirmed by 1HNMR and IR.
