A reproducible and highly accurate spectrophotometric determination of decamethoxine (I) [38146-42-8] consisted of adding eosin  [17372-87-1] 0.5 (10-3 mol/L), EtOH 3, and pH 2.8 citrate buffer 5 mL to 75-100 μg I and making the volume to 25 mL with H2O. The absorbance is measured at 555 nm. NaCl does not interfere with I determination in diluted solutions (0.01-0.05%) containing 0.9% NaCl. The Beer’s law was observed at 0.3-4 μg I/mL. Eosin and I form a 1:2 complex (5-10 min). The addition of 10-20% EtOH increased the stability of the solutions and also the absorbance. At >20% EtOH, the absorbance of the complex decreased. The absorbance is stable for >1 h. At pH 2-3.5 the solution has the highest stability.
