Li, Yannian published the artcileSynthesis and Characterization of Light-Driven Dithienylcyclopentene Switches with Axial Chirality, Recommanded Product: 5-Chloro-3-[2-(5-chloro-2-methylthien-3-yl)cyclopent-1-en-1-yl]-2-methylthiophene, the publication is Journal of Organic Chemistry (2011), 76(17), 7148-7156, database is CAplus and MEDLINE.

Dithienylcyclopentenes such as I and its enantiomer were prepared as photochem. reversible but thermally stable switches with axial stereochem. All three compounds prepared exhibited photochem. reversible isomerization between their open forms and closed forms and were thermally stable in the open and closed forms both in organic solvents and in a liquid crystal host. Dithienylcyclopentenes such as I acted not only as chiral dopants, inducing helical superstructures in achiral liquid crystal hosts, but also reversibly and dynamically tuned the transmittance and reflection of the resulting chiral phases upon light irradiation The helical twisting powers, transmittance, and reflection spectra of photoswitchable cholesteric liquid crystals were measured. I exhibited an unusually high helical twisting power, which is significantly larger than those of the known chiral diarylethenes reported as chiral dopants so far.
