Pyrazolo[3,4-d](aryl)-1,2,4-triazolopyrimidinones I [R = 2-Me, 4-Me, 2-Cl, 4-Cl, 2-O2N, 4-O2N, etc.] were synthesized from 5-amino-6-arylamino-6,7-dihydro-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidin-4-ones which were obtained by the reaction of ethyl-5-amino-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxylate and appropriate phenylisothiocyanate in the presence of toluene followed by cyclization reaction with hydrazine hydrate in absolute ethanol.
