While cooling to room temperature, the mixture was treated with IN ammonium hydroxide (5 mL) and ethyl acetate (5 mL) with vigorous stirring. The organic layer was concentrated and the residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (EtOAc / hexanes), affording 3a as an oil (0.05 g, 13%). MS = 584.0 (M+ H+). 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3): B 8.09 (s, IH), 7.2-7.4 (m, 15H), 5.33 (s, IH), 4.4-4.8 (m, 7H), 3.96 (m, IH), 3.86 (m, 2H), 1.16 (s, 3H).
