The reaction of thioamides with various haloacyl halides was carried out in saturate NaHCO₃-CH₂Cl₂ and 5% NaOH-CH₂Cl₂ to give several kinds of 4-thiazolones, e.q. I, thiazin-4-one II, and spiro compounds, e.g. III. Thus, PhCSNH₂ was treated with BrCH₂CO₂Br in satd NaHCO₃-CH₂Cl₂ to give 62% I.
