A solution of l,4-dichloro-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-phthalazine (CAS 67279-24-7; 348 mg, 1.7 mmol) in concentrated aqueous N (5 ml) and ethanol (5 ml) was stirred at 120C in an autoclave for 20 h. The mixture was cooled to r.t. and concentrated. The crude product was purified by silica gel chromatography using a chromatography using a CE^Ck/MeOH gradient as eluent, to provide the title compound (52 mg, 16%>) as off- white solid.
