The solvent was removed and EtOAc (40 mL) was added. The organic layer was extracted with water (40 mL). The aqueous layer was re-extracted with EtOAc (40 mL). The organic layers were combined, washed with water and brine (40 mL each), dried (Na2S04), and concentrated under reduced pressure. The resulting residue was purified via column chromatography (S1O2) eluting with hexanes/EtOAc (0: 10 to 4:6 v/v) to give the title compound as an off-white solid (0.530 g, 30%). Mp: 132-134 C. NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-ifc): delta 8.90 (s, 1H, disappeared on D20 shake), 8.07 (s, 1H), 7.54 (s, 1H), 7.38 (d, / = 8.7 Hz, 1H), 7.33 (d, / = 8.7 Hz, 1H), 3.83 (s, 3H), 2.16 (s, 3H). HPLC-MS (ESI+): m/z 286.1 [70%, (M35C137C1+H)+], 284.1 [100%, (M35C135C1+H)+].

Flash column chromatography of the oil using silica gel and 15 to 20% ethyl acetate in hexanes solutions gives the title product as an off-white solid (25.3 g, 69% yield, mp 81-82C) which is identified by 1H, 13C and 19F NMR spectral analyses.
